A couple of years ago, I learned about Zentangle art and fell in love. I’ve always wanted to be able to draw images like that, but just don’t have the artistic ability or patience to learn.
When I began talking to my friend, Masala & Blarney, about what my blog would look like, I envisioned old typewriter font, black and white composition notebooks, and doodles. Crisp, clean, and simple, but with the organized chaos of a good doodle for good measure. It was then that I remembered the zentangles that I had seen and decided this would be the perfect project to use that kind of art.
I did an Etsy search and found a wonderful artist named Sarah Mawk. I loved her work and asked her to do something I could use as my new Facebook header image. I told her that whatever she drew, it needed to feature my blog’s name, tagline, and hashtag and that it should not have any religious symbols in it. I gave her creative to do whatever she wanted. Here is what she came up with.
I absolutely love it. What do you think?
If you love Sarah’s work as much as I do, you can commission her to do a zentangle for you too. Check her out on Etsy. Her shop name is SarahsSouthernStudio. You can also check her out on Facebook at www.facebook.com/sarahmawkart.
I’ll be featuring more of Sarah’s work over the next few months and I’m hoping this will be the start of an awesome collaboration.
Today I am so thankful that I connected with Sarah and for her artistic ability.
